The Front Step Project

As a photographer, I spend hours of my weekends capturing images of families in times of joy: celebrations, weddings, graduations, moms expecting their babies on the way, newborns, siblings, grandparents and more. Those moments of joy are still happening in homes right now but I can’t be there to capture them.
As a community we can turn a negative into a positive. I am joining the #TheFrontStepsProject started by a Boston photographer @carasoulia
Starting today, I am offering to take five minute ‘Front Steps Portraits” of Arizona residents. After your quick session, I will email you the digital file of your portrait. In exchange, I am asking you to make a good faith donation to any of these community resources close to my heart, that do some many amazing things in our community.
The Young Center through this page. The Young Center is a champion for the rights and best interests of unaccompanied immigrant children, making sure that wherever they land, whether here in the U.S. or in their home country, they are safe.
The Welcome to America Project The Welcome to America Project celebrates refugees and accelerates their self-sufficiency by providing personal, meaningful welcomes and continued connections. We share transportation, technology and transformational resources to enhance success, so that refugees do not just resettle in our country, they find community and flourish. We create impacts that last a lifetime for the refugees as well as the volunteers who serve.
Biltmore Preparatory Academy Tax Credit Donation Biltmore Preparatory Academy is home to an internationally recognized Dual Language Immersion program. Their vision is to foster a community that works together to build a strong foundation for our children to impact the world.
I will be posting these images on Facebook and Instagram using the hashtag #thefrontstepsproject. Please share these posts. Let’s spread the word!
The purpose of this project is to bring us together when we might feel isolated. I aim to highlight the faces of our community during a time when we might not see them at work, coffee shop, school, etc. Opportunity to document this unique time in history. Participating in this project is also an opportunity to step up to help those who need it most right now in Arizona.
I will be taking images outside ONLY and from at least 10 feet away (practicing #socialdistancing). Our session will be brief, likely just 5 minutes. This is not a typical get-dressed-up-and-pose-for-the-photographer session. Want to stand outside in your pajamas and slippers? Sounds good to me. Kids in mismatched clothes but you’re thrilled they got dressed? Fantastic. A chance to get dressed up since you haven't in a while? Perfect! What works for you works for me!
See you at your doorstep!
